Movement (R)evolution Africa (a story of an art form in four acts) (2007)

This joint Museum for African Art and 92nd St. Y program will focus on the discussion of African documentaries portraying culture and art in an anthropological perspective.  Four filmmakers will screen their films and discuss their work in the field in four sessions from October to January.

This documentary by Joan Frosch and Alla Kovgan contains the stories of fiercely creative African individuals and what they have to tell us about their lives. Open a window onto the emergent choreographic landscape of the continent in the 21st century and provide a new understanding of today's Africa — and the global society of which we are all a part. Running time: 65 minutes.

Programs will take place at the 92nd Street Y at 1395 Lexington Avenue, in the Warburg Hall, from from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

Price per session $25.  Purchase tickets at the 92nd St. Y's website. Museum for African Art members, please call 212-415-5500 for $20 tickets.
