December 8, 20086:00pm - 8:00pm
Bogumil Jewsiewicki, Professor of History at the Universite Laval in Quebec, will discuss the work and career of Congolese photographer and video artist, Sammy Baloji. Baloji's work juxtaposes the DRC's colonial legacy with its wealth from natural resources. His work engages Congolese citizens of different generations in a visual debate about the violence of the past and their aspirations for the future.
