El Anatsui Exhibition Receives Support from Warhol and NYSCA

September 2, 2008

The Museum for African Art recently received support for its highly anticipated inaugural exhibition, El Anatsui: When I Last Wrote to You About Africa, which is set to debut in the Museum’s new building on Museum Mile.

Star of the 52nd Venice Biennale, the Ghanaian born Anatsui is one of the most sought after artists in contemporary art today.  El Anatsui: When I Last Wrote to You About Africa will make an important contribution to the history of contemporary art in that it presents, for the first time, a survey of Anatsui’s oeuvre.

El Anatsui: When I Last Wrote to You About Africa has been awarded $100,000 from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc.

This event is also made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency.
