Lega Hats from the Congo
This workshop focuses on the Lega people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The hats of the Lega have a purpose beyond simply covering the wearer's head. Just as the crowns of royalty reflect their position within their kingdom, Lega hats are used to show a person's initiation status within their society or government. Discover the significance of these beautiful hats in what becomes a coming-of-age story.
